Forge Ministry Highlights Role of Everyday Christians in Global Evangelism

The international ministry Forge recently reflected on its four-decade history of equipping believers for evangelism. According to the organization, they have trained over 330,000 individuals across more than 100 nations to share the Gospel within their daily lives and personal spheres of influence.

In a recent commentary, Forge leadership challenged the notion that evangelism is a task reserved exclusively for professional clergy or missionaries. Drawing on Matthew 9, the ministry emphasizes that the Great Commission is intended for all believers. The organization argues that when ordinary Christians recognize their unique access to neighbors and colleagues, they can facilitate Gospel outreach in ways that formal ministry programs cannot replicate.

To illustrate the impact of individual witness, the ministry shared the account of a man named Mohammed in Somalia. In 2023, he reportedly encountered the Gospel while being recruited by the militant group Al-Shabaab and subsequently chose to follow Jesus. Forge maintains that such personal encounters are vital, noting that the belief that evangelism is only for professionals remains a significant barrier to global mission efforts.
