Recent Attacks in Nigeria’s Adamawa and Plateau States Result in Casualties

Suspected Boko Haram militants attacked Zaranga village in Nigeria’s Adamawa State on September 7, resulting in at least 11 deaths. Residents reported that the attackers arrived before dawn, firing on villagers and setting homes on fire. Search teams and security personnel are currently working to locate several individuals who remain missing following the incident.

Simultaneously, violence has escalated in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. Reports indicate that multiple attacks between September 3 and early the following week led to at least three deaths in the communities of Fungtim, Kinat, and Marish. Additionally, an assault on the Muko community caused significant property damage and forced many residents to flee their homes. Mathias Ibrahim, secretary of the Mangu internally displaced persons camp, noted that the number of displaced families is rising and issued an urgent appeal for food and humanitarian assistance for those affected by the ongoing instability.
