New Safe House Opens for Displaced Christians in Chhattisgarh, India

International Christian Concern (ICC) has dedicated a new facility, named Ashray, to provide shelter for Christians displaced by violence in central India’s Chhattisgarh region. The two-room safe house, which includes living quarters, a kitchen, and sanitary facilities, was opened on September 4 to support families who have been ostracized from their villages.

According to ICC, the project was initiated in response to a pattern of systemic violence across nine villages, where believers have faced physical beatings and the loss of their livelihoods. Organizers stated that many displaced families had previously been forced to live in forests or under trees to escape persecution. By providing this refuge, the organization aims to offer a secure environment for those who have lacked institutional support, helping them maintain their faith and physical well-being amidst ongoing instability.
