Americans United for Life Releases 2027 State Rankings on Bioethical Legislation
The advocacy organization Americans United for Life (AUL) has released its 2027 Life List, an annual ranking of all 50 U.S. states based on their legislative approach to bioethical issues ranging from conception to natural death. For the seventh consecutive year, Arkansas secured the top position, with AUL leadership citing the state's consistent collaboration with local pro-life organizations as a model for other jurisdictions.
Following Arkansas, the top ten states include Louisiana, Oklahoma, Indiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, South Dakota, Kentucky, Florida, and Idaho. Conversely, Oregon was ranked as the least pro-life state, followed by Vermont, New Jersey, Hawaii, Washington, Colorado, New Mexico, New York, Illinois, and California.
During the announcement ceremony in Alexander, Arkansas, Governor Sarah Sanders reaffirmed her administration's commitment to these policies, stating that she views every life as a gift created in the image of God. Additionally, AUL recognized the Louisiana attorney general for efforts to challenge federal regulations regarding the distribution of abortion pills by mail.
