Thousands Participate in Annual March for Life in London

Thousands of demonstrators gathered in London this past weekend for the annual March for Life UK. The procession began at the Emmanuel Centre in Westminster and concluded in front of the Houses of Parliament. Organizers stated that the event serves to highlight the value of human life, which they believe is created in the image of God.

The event took place amid ongoing national debates regarding abortion legislation. Recent changes to the Crime and Policing Bill have removed legal sanctions for women who terminate pregnancies, though doctors remain subject to a 24-week limit. Participants also expressed concerns regarding the implementation of abortion buffer zones, which have previously led to legal challenges for individuals preaching in public spaces.

Prior to the march, a group of counter-protesters disrupted a Mass at Westminster Cathedral attended by 15 Catholic bishops. According to reports, the protesters were escorted from the building, and the service concluded peacefully. While the pro-life crowd significantly outnumbered the counter-protesters, the incident drew criticism regarding the protection of religious gatherings.
