British comedian and actor Russell Brand has been found guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault at London’s Southwark Crown Court. The jury reached their verdict following two days of deliberations after a four-week trial. Brand was acquitted of two additional rape charges and one count of attempted indecent assault. The convictions relate to offenses committed against four women between 2004 and 2009.

During the trial, prosecutors characterized Brand as a predator who leveraged his celebrity status to target victims. Brand, who pleaded not guilty to all charges, maintained that his past sexual encounters were consensual, despite acknowledging a history of promiscuity. Judge Joel Bennathan stated that Brand will receive a custodial sentence of significant length and has remanded him in custody until his sentencing hearing on November 9.

The Metropolitan Police, who interviewed over 100 witnesses during their investigation, credited the resilience of the victims for the outcome. The case involved allegations from six women spanning a decade, with the jury ultimately delivering verdicts on seven specific charges.
