Andrew Walker Installed as Dean of SBTS School of Theology

The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS) in Louisville, Kentucky, has formally installed Andrew T. Walker as the new dean of its School of Theology. Walker, who officially began his duties on August 1, succeeds Hershael York. York has transitioned into a new role at the institution as the Victor and Louise Lester Professor of Christian Preaching.

During the installation ceremony, Walker expressed his commitment to stewarding the seminary’s theological heritage and preparing well-trained leaders for the Southern Baptist Convention. Reflecting on his history with the institution, Walker noted that he first arrived on campus as a student in 2008 and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the faculty.

SBTS President Albert Mohler presided over the ceremony, describing the appointment as a historic moment for the seminary and Boyce College. Mohler stated that he and other leadership members believe Walker was divinely prepared for this specific role at this time. Walker holds a Ph.D. and a Master of Divinity from the institution.
