Evangelical Press Association to Vote on Rebranding as Christian Communicators Network

The Evangelical Press Association (EPA), a trade organization representing over 300 Christian periodicals and organizations, is scheduled to vote in September on a proposal to change its name to the Christian Communicators Network. If approved, the move would replace a title the organization has held for 78 years.

Proponents of the change are considering the new name amid ongoing discussions regarding the public perception of the term "Evangelical." Critics of the rebranding argue that the term "Evangelical" is rooted in the Greek word "euangelion," meaning "good news," and represents core theological convictions rather than political or cultural labels. These convictions include the necessity of a conversion experience, the authority of the Bible, the redemptive power of Christ’s sacrifice, and the importance of sharing the Gospel.

The EPA currently serves a diverse membership, including publications such as The Christian Post, Decision magazine, and The War Cry. The organization reports that its member publications reach a combined audience of more than 20 million readers.
