Missionary Robin Rempel Reflects on Her Journey in Bible Translation
Robin Rempel, a missionary who grew up in a home frequently visited by global workers, credits her early exposure to these guests as the foundation for her own calling. Although she initially felt a sense of inadequacy regarding language acquisition, she describes a pivotal moment during her university years when she felt God clearly directing her toward Bible translation. Rempel recounts that she eventually surrendered her fears to God, trusting Him to provide the necessary abilities for the work.
Her career began with a ten-year tenure in Papua New Guinea, where she focused on developing writing systems and literacy programs. Over time, her ministry shifted from working within a single language group to an itinerant role, supporting teams across 70 to 80 different language communities worldwide. Rempel characterizes her life’s work as an improbable journey, emphasizing that her service was made possible only by placing her personal weaknesses into God’s hands.
