Shine Your Light Campaign Targets Loneliness During Upcoming Christmas Season
Organizers of the Shine Your Light evangelistic campaign have announced plans for their fourth annual initiative, which aims to reach individuals experiencing loneliness during the festive season. The campaign, which previously received endorsements from King Charles III and former Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, seeks to mobilize 5,000 churches this year to provide support and community to both older and younger generations.
Dr. Jonathan Oloyede, founder of the National Day of Prayer and Worship and a lead organizer, highlighted that the initiative is designed to address the isolation often felt by those facing bereavement, health challenges, or a lack of social connection. By encouraging local congregations to identify and engage with forgotten members of their communities, organizers hope to foster lasting relationships that extend well beyond the holiday period into 2027.
Last year’s campaign exceeded initial expectations, involving over 300,000 participants across 3,500 churches. Through more than 1,800 organized events, the movement reached an estimated 3.5 million people, surpassing the organizers' original goal of reaching two million individuals.
