Family Alleges Ontario Grandmother Was Euthanized Against Her Will

The family of 83-year-old Brigitte Stegemann, a Christian woman from Ontario, Canada, is raising concerns regarding the circumstances of her death this past July. Stegemann, who had been diagnosed with stomach cancer earlier this year, reportedly expressed strong opposition to medically assisted dying (MAiD) due to her religious convictions. Her granddaughter, Brigitte Kranendonk, claims that Stegemann repeatedly refused the procedure, at one point physically removing a medical port while declaring she did not want the "death shot."

Kranendonk alleges that medical staff at the assisted living facility proceeded with MAiD assessments despite her grandmother's clear objections. She contends that during consultations, medical professionals used vague language to describe the procedure and failed to explicitly mention death. Furthermore, Kranendonk has questioned the validity of a cognitive assessment conducted during the process, noting that her grandmother answered all questions incorrectly. The family is now seeking answers regarding the medical team's conduct and the decision-making process that led to the administration of the procedure.
