Property Investor Pledges Legal Support for Arrested UK Street Preachers

Property investor Samuel Leeds has announced he will personally fund legal representation for Christian street preachers facing arrest in the United Kingdom. Leeds expressed concern over what he describes as a "double standard" regarding religious expression in Britain, stating that he is "shocked and outraged" by the treatment of individuals sharing their faith in public spaces.

This initiative follows several high-profile legal cases involving street preachers. These include the 2022 arrest of Angus Cameron in Scotland, who later received compensation after successfully challenging a "Non-Crime Hate Incident" on his record, and the arrest of Pastor Steve Maile in Watford regarding alleged public order offenses. Additionally, Pastor Clive Johnston was convicted for preaching within a buffer zone surrounding an abortion clinic in Northern Ireland. Leeds argues that such incidents often stem from police officers misinterpreting the law, and he intends to provide financial backing to ensure preachers can defend their right to share their message.
