Theologian O. Palmer Robertson Celebrates 89th Birthday

Reformed theologian and author O. Palmer Robertson celebrated his 89th birthday on August 31, 2026. A significant figure in the formation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), Robertson was a key speaker at the denomination's inaugural assembly in 1973. During that meeting in Birmingham, Alabama, he urged delegates to defend biblical truth against what he characterized as the liberal theological shifts occurring within the Presbyterian Church in the United States at the time.

Born in 1937 in Jackson, Mississippi, Robertson experienced a personal conversion at age 15 during a Billy Graham crusade. Throughout his career, he has served as a pastor, seminary professor, and missionary in Africa. He is perhaps best known for his extensive body of work, having authored 21 books focused on Reformed theology and biblical studies. Colleagues and students have noted his lifelong commitment to the Reformed heritage, which remains a central theme of his academic and pastoral legacy.
