A new report from the Evangelical Alliance UK provides a detailed analysis of the evangelical population in the United Kingdom, identifying 12.3 million people who either hold evangelical beliefs or identify as evangelical. The study finds that 64% of practicing Christians—defined as those who attend church monthly and engage in weekly personal prayer and Bible reading—fall into this category.
Contrary to broader trends in UK church attendance, the research highlights that evangelicals are younger, more ethnically diverse, and predominantly male. Approximately 43% of "classic evangelicals" are under the age of 35, and 30% come from ethnic minority backgrounds. Additionally, men make up nearly 60% of the evangelical population. Pentecostals represent the largest denominational group among classic evangelicals at 29%, followed by Roman Catholics at 19% and Anglicans at 17%.
