Over 30 Christians Killed in Series of Attacks in Nigeria's Plateau State

More than 30 Christians have been killed in Mangu County, Plateau State, Nigeria, during a series of violent incidents over the past month. Local sources and government officials report that the attacks, primarily attributed to suspected Fulani herdsmen, have targeted multiple Christian communities, resulting in significant loss of life, injuries, and the destruction of homes and crops.
The deadliest incident occurred on August 18 in the village of Bin-Per, where 25 people, mostly women and children, were killed in an overnight raid. Jeremiah Dakahap, a spokesman for the Mangu Local Government Council, confirmed the tragedy, noting that the victims were buried in a mass grave. Additional fatalities were reported throughout August and early September in villages including Fungtim, Kinat, Kop-Naanle, Jwak, Murish, and Jakatai.
Community leaders also reported that soldiers deployed to the region killed at least one Christian protester in Sabon Layi on August 18. Another resident, Fwangshak Dawuk, was reportedly killed by soldiers while guarding his village. Local authorities continue to monitor the volatile situation as displaced residents seek medical care in Jos.
