U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee and Tucker Carlson Clash Over Settler Attack
U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee and political commentator Tucker Carlson have engaged in a public dispute regarding the embassy's response to an alleged attack on an American citizen by Israeli settlers. Carlson posted video footage on social media showing a group of individuals assaulting a man and setting a vehicle on fire, accusing Huckabee of failing to assist the victim. Carlson characterized the embassy's inaction as disgraceful and urged the ambassador to intervene.
In response, Huckabee labeled Carlson’s accusations as unfounded and deranged. The ambassador provided a timeline of the embassy's involvement, stating that American Citizen Services (ACS) was notified of the incident on October 19. Huckabee reported that the victim's son, based in Chicago, requested to be the sole point of contact and declined to provide direct access to his father, who was reportedly receiving care at a hospital in Ramallah. Huckabee maintained that the embassy has attempted to follow standard protocols despite these communication challenges.
