Singer-songwriter Matthew West is set to release his latest album, "Jesus Is King," on September 25. The 12-track project serves as a personal exploration of the artist's faith journey, which began when he committed his life to Christ at age 13. West describes the album as a response to a culture he believes is increasingly focused on self-empowerment and personal control.

West explains that the creative process involved asking himself who Jesus is in his own life. He says he realized that true freedom is found not in self-determination, but in surrendering to Jesus as King. By returning to Scripture, including themes from 2 Corinthians 5:17, West says he sought to challenge the tendency to look for wisdom in modern influences like social media or technology rather than in God. He describes the album as a declaration of his desire to follow Jesus and find strength through submission to a higher authority.
