Kenyan pastors seek road safety improvements following fatal bus crash

The Mombasa Pastors Fellowship is calling for the expansion of the Nairobi-Mombasa highway into a dual carriageway following a tragic collision that claimed 24 lives on October 25. The accident occurred near Mtito Andei when a bus belonging to Power of the Word Church International, which was transporting members of the fellowship and other passengers home from a funeral in Kakamega County, collided head-on with a truck.

Among the deceased were three ministers: Pastor Joseph Vura of Campaign for Salvation and Healing Ministry Church, Apostle Fonex Paul of River of Restoration Church, and Pastor Isaac. Survivors of the crash were transported to medical facilities in Mtito Andei, Kibwezi, and Makindu for treatment.

In response to the tragedy, the fellowship has organized a fundraising drive scheduled for November 12, aiming to raise KSh 10 million ($77,000). Secretary-general Reverend Elijah Waini stated that the funds are intended to assist bereaved families with funeral expenses and provide long-term support for the education of children who lost parents in the crash. The fellowship has appealed to President William Ruto and the public for support.
