Hundreds Attend Memorial Service for Dutch Bible Teacher Ab Klein Haneveld

Approximately 800 mourners gathered at the Julianakerk in Veenendaal, Netherlands, on Thursday to honor the life and ministry of Bible teacher and gospel musician Ab Klein Haneveld. The 81-year-old founder of the Netherlands Bible Study Center passed away on October 15 following a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

Known for his commitment to evangelism, Klein Haneveld was a polarizing figure within Dutch Christian circles. While supporters praised his dedication to Scripture, board member Peter van Eendenburg noted that his unconventional interpretations often drew criticism from the religious establishment, with some detractors labeling his teachings as controversial. Klein Haneveld frequently challenged traditional views, emphasizing the risen Christ and His ongoing ministry over the focus on the infant Jesus.

During the service, his son, Jacob Klein Haneveld, encouraged attendees to remain steadfast in their faith. Drawing on Ephesians 6, he urged believers to hold fast to biblical teachings and prepare for spiritual struggles. The event also served as a moment to reflect on the future of the Netherlands Bible Study Center following the loss of its founder.
