Honduran Evangelical leader calls for integrity and constitutional adherence in Congress

Pastor Gerardo Irías, president of the Evangelical Confraternity of Honduras (CEH), addressed members of the National Congress on October 21 during a legislative prayer gathering. In his message to lawmakers from various political parties, Irías emphasized the importance of upholding the Constitution and maintaining integrity in public office. He urged officials to avoid making promises they cannot fulfill and encouraged them to practice self-reflection, citing the biblical example of the apostle Peter to illustrate the necessity of acknowledging personal failings.

Irías stated that while the evangelical community is open to collaborating with the legislature, such cooperation is contingent upon respect for the law and biblical principles. During the event, which was attended by Congress President Tomás Zambrano and representatives from multiple political factions, Irías presented Bibles to the legislators. This address follows previous calls from evangelical leaders in Honduras, including a February statement from the Tegucigalpa Pastors Association, which urged the government to prioritize ethics and the common good in its decision-making processes.
