Scientific Investigation Begins at Durupınar Formation in Turkey

A team of researchers has launched a comprehensive scientific study at the Durupınar formation in eastern Turkey, a site long debated for its potential connection to the biblical account of Noah’s Ark. Directed by archaeologist Cenker Atila of Sivas Cumhuriyet University in partnership with Noah’s Ark Scans, the project has received official authorization from Turkish authorities to conduct extensive testing at the 515-foot-long site.

The investigation utilizes advanced technology, including ground-penetrating radar, LiDAR, and electrical resistivity imaging, alongside core drilling and soil analysis. Previous surveys of the area identified linear features and chamber-like structures at depths of approximately 30 feet, as well as higher concentrations of organic material compared to the surrounding soil.

While the site’s boat-like shape has drawn interest for decades, researchers emphasize that these findings do not confirm the presence of an ancient vessel. The current project aims to gather physical evidence to determine whether the formation is the result of human activity or natural geological processes.
