Philippine Evangelical Churches Launch Nationwide Family Discipleship Initiative

The Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches (PCEC) Family Commission has launched a movement to prioritize year-round family discipleship, encouraging congregations to equip parents as the primary spiritual mentors for their children. This initiative follows the recent CrossGen Family Summit held at GCF South Metro in Las Piñas, which drew nearly 800 participants focused on strengthening intergenerational relationships and faith formation.

Commission representative Maloi Salumbides stated that the movement aims to shift churches away from being exclusively event-oriented toward becoming disciple-making congregations. The commission is advocating for churches to align their various ministry schedules to allow families more time together and to integrate discipleship themes into regular preaching. Early impacts of the initiative are already visible, with some local congregations, such as one in Batangas, restructuring planned events to focus specifically on family-centered discipleship.

Looking forward, the PCEC Family Commission plans to continue building partnerships and providing resources to support parents. Organizers intend to host larger CrossGen Family Summits on a biennial basis to sustain the momentum of this movement across the country.
