New Collection of Pope Leo XIV’s Pre-Papal Writings Released

A new book titled Freedom Under Grace: Reflections on the Spiritual Tradition That Formed Me has been released internationally. The collection features homilies, addresses, and other writings authored by Pope Leo XIV, formerly known as Robert Francis Prevost, prior to his election to the papacy. The publication includes reflections on his tenure as head of the Order of Saint Augustine from 2001 to 2013, as well as his perspectives on global events, political ideologies, and social issues such as poverty and human rights.

As the first Augustinian pope, Leo XIV draws heavily on the influence of Saint Augustine of Hippo, whom he identifies as his spiritual father. The book is available in print, e-book, and audiobook formats, with the main text narrated by Scott Brick and the homilies read by comedian Stephen Colbert. According to the publisher, the work aims to present a vision for life centered on community, solidarity, and service to the marginalized, offering readers insight into the pastoral experiences that shaped the current pontiff.
