Reflecting on the Centrality of Justification by Faith Alone

In a recent teaching, the author explores the historical significance of the Protestant Reformation motto, post tenebras lux, or "after darkness, light." Drawing on the history of the Reformation Wall in Geneva, the author explains that this phrase signifies the recovery of the doctrine of justification by faith alone. The teaching emphasizes that this doctrine was considered the essential core of the biblical gospel, representing the fundamental way for humanity to be reconciled with God.

To illustrate the gravity of maintaining doctrinal integrity, the author examines Galatians 1:6–9. The text highlights the Apostle Paul’s stern warning against those who distort the gospel. Although Paul is often characterized as an advocate for peace and unity, the author notes that he refused to tolerate any compromise regarding the gospel message. The teaching concludes that when the gospel is at stake, the very essence of the Christian faith is at risk, necessitating a firm commitment to the truth as presented in Scripture.
