Harvey Kwiyani Reflects on the Significance of Galilee in Christian Ministry

In a series of addresses delivered at the Haggai International Global Advisory Council in Bali, Harvey Kwiyani explored the theme of "Transcend," grounded in the passage of Isaiah 55:7–9. Kwiyani emphasized the biblical instruction for the disciples to meet the risen Jesus in Galilee rather than in centers of political or religious power like Jerusalem or Rome.

Drawing on the resurrection accounts in Matthew 28 and Mark 16, Kwiyani argued that the choice of Galilee serves as a call to shift the church's perspective. He suggested that by focusing on the "margins" where Jesus began his ministry, believers are invited to prioritize the voices of ordinary people over institutional authority. Kwiyani encouraged his audience to adopt a posture of listening and service, suggesting that the gospel is often more clearly understood when the church engages with the people and places it has historically overlooked. He concluded that this approach reflects the higher ways of God described by the prophet Isaiah.
