Christianity Today Marks 70th Anniversary of Publication

Christianity Today is set to celebrate its 70th anniversary this October. Founded in 1956, the publication has maintained a focus on Christ-centered journalism, emphasizing the belief that societal improvement stems from biblical influence and the regeneration of individuals within their local communities.

To commemorate the milestone, editor-in-chief Marvin Olasky highlighted seven articles from the magazine's archives, one from each decade. These selections reflect the publication's historical stance on various issues, including the role of evangelicals in politics, the compassionate use of wealth, and the importance of checks and balances in government. The archives also document the magazine's engagement with contemporary challenges, such as the rise of New Atheism in 2008 and the ethical implications of artificial intelligence in 2017.

Throughout its history, the magazine has consistently argued that evangelicals should serve as a conscience for society rather than functioning as a political interest group. The editorial team maintains that their mission remains rooted in the conviction that human beings possess inherent value because they are created in the image of God.
