U.S. Voters Decide on Abortion, Voter ID, and Gender-Related Ballot Measures

Based on 2 sources

Following the 2026 midterm elections, voters across the United States have weighed in on a variety of significant ballot measures. While Republicans faced losses in several congressional and gubernatorial races, both major political parties achieved successes regarding their specific policy priorities through these state-level referendums.

Pro-abortion advocates secured victories in the majority of states where abortion-related measures were presented to voters. Conversely, initiatives requiring voter identification and proof of citizenship—a primary focus for the political Right—also gained approval in several states. Additionally, measures aimed at restricting participation in women's sports and private spaces to biological females, as well as proposals to ban gender-transition procedures for minors, are currently leading in every state where they appeared on the ballot, though official results remain pending in many jurisdictions.
