Dioceses launch Christian reflection resources based on Winnie-the-Pooh

To mark the centenary of A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh, the Dioceses of Winchester and Portsmouth have released a series of nine classroom reflection cards for church schools. These resources connect familiar moments from the Hundred Acre Wood with biblical teachings, prayers, and questions to help children explore Christian values such as friendship, grace, patience, and hope.

For example, the theme of friendship is paired with Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 and Proverbs 17:17, using Pooh and Eeyore’s interactions to discuss the importance of companionship. Another card explores kindness and compassion by reflecting on Eeyore’s observation that small, thoughtful gestures make a significant difference, framing kindness as a daily way of life rather than an occasional act. The materials also address courage and trust, using the example of Pooh supporting Piglet to illustrate how faith and community provide reassurance during vulnerable moments.

Designed for individual reflection, curriculum work, or Collective Worship, the cards aim to help students apply Christian principles to their everyday lives. By bridging classic literature with Scripture, the dioceses hope to deepen children’s understanding of their school values through the relatable experiences of Milne’s characters.
