Wife of Imprisoned Chinese Pastor Reflects on Faith Amidst Persecution

Geng Pengpeng, the wife of imprisoned Zion Church pastor Gao Yingjia, recently shared her experience following the Chinese government’s October 2025 crackdown on unregistered house churches. Geng, who now resides in Thailand with her young son, recounted the night she and her family fled their home as authorities targeted church leadership. She described the ordeal as a refining experience for her faith, stating that she believes God is using their family's suffering for a greater purpose.

Gao is one of eight leaders from the Beijing-based Zion Church who remain in detention. While the church's founding pastor, Jin Mingri, was released to the United States in July 2026, Geng continues to advocate for those still imprisoned. She expressed hope for a spiritual revival in China and encouraged supporters to pray for the government officials involved in the crackdown. Geng characterizes her husband's imprisonment as a sacrifice to the Lord, maintaining that if God permits such trials, they must ultimately be viewed as a blessing.
