Pakistani Christian Teen Forgives Attackers Following Violent Mob Assault

Seventeen-year-old Ikhlaq Masih is recovering from severe injuries sustained during a mob attack in Nasrat Colony, Pakistan, on August 16. Masih was targeted after intervening to protect a girl who was being harassed by a group of men, a recurring issue in the community. According to Masih, the assailants used derogatory religious slurs before returning later that day with weapons, including iron rods and chains, to beat him until he lost consciousness.

Two months after the incident, Masih reports that approximately two-thirds of his wounds have healed. Despite the brutality of the assault, he states that his Christian faith compelled him to stand up for the girl and now motivates him to forgive his attackers. Masih says he is praying for those who harmed him to repent and turn to Christ, expressing his belief that true followers of Jesus would reflect love and compassion rather than violence. He hopes that his experience will lead his attackers to understand the wrong they have committed.
