Amin Ismail Released from Sudanese Prison After Over One Year
Amin Ismail, the son of Sudanese church leader Pastor Ismail Azzaz, has been released from Kobar Prison in Khartoum after being detained for more than a year. Ismail was arrested in July 2025 shortly after returning to the capital to visit his wife. Reports indicate that despite courts repeatedly finding him innocent of any criminal wrongdoing, he remained incarcerated due to personal motives involving local figures and his family's history of resisting government pressure regarding church property.
Following his release, Ismail expressed gratitude for the prayers and advocacy provided by International Christian Concern. While he is currently in a location within Khartoum, his family and supporters report that he remains at risk from those who previously sought to harm him. Pastor Azzaz, who has lived in exile for several years, and advocacy groups are now calling for continued prayer as the family seeks a safe path for Ismail to exit the capital and reach a secure environment.
