UK Christians observe third annual National Week of Prayer
Christians across the United Kingdom are participating in the third annual National Week of Prayer, a nine-day initiative running from October 10 to 18. Organized under the theme “Gather. Remember. Return,” the event aims to foster unity among diverse denominations, including evangelical, Catholic, and charismatic traditions. Participants are encouraged to prioritize prayer for their families, workplaces, and national leaders.
Events are taking place in over 100 locations, ranging from intimate home gatherings to larger public meetings. A central service is scheduled for October 15 at the Royal Military Chapel in London, where representatives from various sectors of society, such as healthcare and media, will lead prayers for the nation. An online livestream will be available for those unable to attend in person.
Launched in 2024 with approximately 20,000 participants, the movement has seen consistent growth according to organizers. Coordinator Kamesh Flynn noted that the initiative has resonated with a deep desire for collective spiritual reflection. The campaign is supported by several Christian organizations, including Open Doors UK & Ireland, Premier, and Christians in Government.
