Two Sisters Escape Arson Attack Following Conversion to Christianity in Uganda

Two teenage sisters in Uganda’s Kasese District are recovering after narrowly escaping an arson attack on their home on September 6. The sisters, identified as Amina and Shamila, reported that their father set their house on fire after dousing it with petrol. According to the victims, their father stated he was acting to uphold Islamic law following their conversion to Christianity on August 26.

The teenagers managed to escape the burning structure by removing bricks from a wall to create an exit. While the fire destroyed their personal belongings, the sisters stated that their faith remains intact. Local Christian leaders and a community official have condemned the attack, calling for the father to be held accountable for the incident. Advocacy groups, including International Christian Concern, have highlighted the event as part of the ongoing pressure faced by religious converts in the region.
