President Trump calls for Representative Ilhan Omar's resignation
President Donald Trump has publicly demanded the resignation of Representative Ilhan Omar, alleging that she used a false name to be sworn into Congress. The President’s claims stem from a recent federal court filing that referred to the Minnesota Democrat as "Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar." Following a search warrant executed at her Washington, D.C. residence, Trump asserted that the use of a different name constitutes fraud and disqualifies her from serving in the House of Representatives.
Representative Omar has categorically denied the allegations, characterizing them as "right-wing conspiracy theories" promoted by the President. In response to the claims, she maintained that her name has always been Ilhan Omar and criticized the administration's focus on her personal history. Regarding questions about her past marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, Omar stated during a media interview that she has no knowledge of any blood relation to her former spouse. The congresswoman also reported that federal agents seized several items during the recent search of her home and noted that she has received threats.
