Cultivating Kindness Within the Christian Home
In a recent teaching, Ligonier Ministries explores the necessity of kindness as a fundamental fruit of the Spirit, particularly within the context of family life. Drawing on Galatians 5:22–23, the author argues that kindness is not merely a personality trait but evidence of the Holy Spirit’s transformative work in a believer’s life. The teaching notes that while Christians may easily display patience or grace toward strangers and coworkers, they often struggle to extend the same kindness to those living under their own roofs.
The author emphasizes that true kindness is fueled by gospel empowerment. Because believers have experienced God’s mercy and forgiveness despite their own shortcomings, they are called to reflect that same grace toward their spouses and children. This kindness is described as an ordinary, daily practice rather than a grand gesture. By recognizing that their own hearts have been softened by Christ, believers are encouraged to prioritize kindness as a primary witness of their faith within the home.
