Tauren Wells Reflects on Burnout and Rediscovering God’s Presence

Updated 2 days ago

Grammy-nominated artist and pastor Tauren Wells recently shared his personal journey through burnout while leading the Church of Whitestone, which he founded in the Austin, Texas area in 2024. Wells described a moment of intense pressure while driving, where he felt on the verge of a panic attack and experienced a profound sense of isolation despite having a supportive network of family and friends. He noted that this experience highlighted the difficulty of balancing the demands of ministry with his personal well-being.

Through counseling, Wells realized he had focused heavily on completing projects for God rather than cultivating a personal relationship with Him. He describes this realization as a significant growth curve, shifting his perspective toward simply being in God’s presence. This journey of rediscovery served as the inspiration for his new live album, "Here Comes the Church," which releases October 2. Recorded at the Austin City Limits Moody Theater, the project features various collaborations and reflects his evolving understanding of his role as a pastor and his walk with God.
