Texas Senate Candidate James Talarico Resumes Campaign Following Illness
Texas Democratic U.S. Senate nominee James Talarico has returned to the campaign trail after a two-week absence caused by a bout of the flu. Talarico, 37, resumed public appearances on October 9, attending the Austin City Limits music festival and a concert in Dallas. His return follows a period of public speculation regarding his health, during which some social media users circulated unverified claims about his whereabouts. The Lindner Center of Hope, a mental health facility mentioned in online rumors, issued a statement confirming that Talarico had never received treatment at their facility.
In a recent interview, Talarico stated he remained at home to recover and avoid spreading the illness to others. Following his return, the candidate participated in a CNN town hall event where he addressed various policy issues, including his stance on abortion. During an exchange with a Catholic theological professor, Talarico argued that the Bible is silent on the issue of abortion and expressed support for access to abortion care in specific circumstances. Talarico is currently competing against Republican nominee and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the upcoming November 3 general election.
