Saint John of God Hospitaller Services Rebrands as The Do Good Charity
The organization formerly known as Saint John of God Hospitaller Services has officially changed its trading name to The Do Good Charity. With roots tracing back to 1880 in England and a broader history inspired by the 16th-century work of Saint John of God, the charity aims to make its mission more accessible to the public. The name change is derived from the Italian term 'Fatebenefratelli,' or 'Do Good Brothers,' which historically described the religious order founded by João Cidade.
Chief executive Paul Bott stated that the rebranding is intended to clarify the organization's purpose for those unfamiliar with its history. While the name has changed, leadership emphasized that the charity remains committed to its foundational philosophy of hospitality and Catholic social teaching. The organization clarified that the transition is not a departure from its religious roots, but rather a strategic effort to expand its reach, foster new partnerships, and increase its impact within the communities it serves.
