Robert Jeffress Criticizes Democratic Party Platform and Candidate James Talarico

First Baptist Dallas Pastor Robert Jeffress recently characterized the Democratic Party platform as inherently evil during an appearance on a podcast hosted by Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick. Jeffress argued that while individual members of both political parties may struggle with personal sin, the Democratic platform actively promotes positions he identifies as sinful, specifically citing abortion, transgender ideology, and policies regarding Israel.

During the discussion, Jeffress also addressed the candidacy of Texas state representative James Talarico, who is running for the U.S. Senate. Jeffress criticized Talarico’s public descriptions of Jesus, labeling them as reductive and contrary to biblical teaching. When asked about Talarico’s use of scripture to support his political stances, Jeffress stated that he does not believe Talarico is a Christian. Talarico, a Presbyterian seminarian, has frequently utilized religious rhetoric in his campaign, a practice that Jeffress and Patrick argued misrepresents the faith.
