World Vision Report Highlights Global Child Hunger Crisis

A new report from World Vision, titled "Price Shocks 2026," warns that rising food costs are severely impacting the nutritional health of children worldwide. The study analyzed the affordability of basic food items across 62 countries, finding that families are increasingly forced to borrow money, skip meals, or purchase lower-quality food to survive. In some regions, such as Sudan, the report notes that a worker must labor for 19 days to afford a basic basket of nutritious food, while in Ukraine, the same basket requires over 12 hours of wages.

According to the findings, approximately 35.5 million children suffered from acute malnutrition in 2025, with nearly 10 million experiencing severe forms of the condition. Margaret Schuler, World Vision’s senior vice president of international programs, emphasized the daily struggles faced by families in crisis-affected areas. The organization is calling on governments and international donors to prioritize food security through expanded school meal programs, support for local agriculture, and increased humanitarian aid to ensure children can access the nutrition necessary for healthy development.
