Brentford footballer Josh Dasilva shares testimony of faith during injury recovery

Brentford FC midfielder Josh Dasilva has opened up about his journey back to professional football following a series of significant injuries that sidelined him for over three years. After suffering a hip injury in 2021, a hamstring issue in 2023, and a serious knee injury in early 2024, Dasilva returned to the pitch in May 2026. He credits his Christian faith as the primary source of strength that helped him navigate the challenges of his rehabilitation.

In a recent interview for the Brentford matchday programme, Dasilva shared that while he grew up in a Christian home, he had drifted from his faith before a friend invited him to church during his recovery. He describes this return to church as a transformative experience, noting that he was baptized in May 2025. Dasilva says that dedicating his mornings to prayer and scripture reading has provided him with peace and direction. He emphasizes that his relationship with Jesus was the most important factor in his recovery, stating that he believes he would not have returned to the sport without his faith.
