Pakistani Christians Face Surge in Blasphemy Allegations and Targeted Violence

Christian communities in Pakistan are reporting a series of violent incidents and legal challenges, raising concerns among advocacy groups regarding the safety of religious minorities. In Punjab province, a Christian youth named Aamir Masih was detained following allegations of sharing offensive content on WhatsApp. Reports from LEAD Ministries indicate that a mob gathered at the scene, leading to the detention of seven of Masih's family members and causing other local Christians to flee their homes in fear of further unrest.

In a separate incident in Pasrur, a Christian sanitation worker named Noman Masih was reportedly subjected to physical assault and verbal abuse. Video footage of the encounter shows the worker being humiliated and pushed into sewage water. Additionally, the family of Ashiq Rahi, a brick-kiln worker in the Kasur district, is seeking information regarding his disappearance and suspected death, alleging that he had been subjected to forced labor and debt bondage.

Sardar Mushtaq Gill, founder of LEAD Ministries, stated that these events highlight systemic discrimination and intimidation faced by Christians in the country. While police have initiated investigations into the blasphemy case, the circumstances surrounding these reports remain under review by local authorities.
