Pakistani Christian Community Demands Justice Following Watchman's Death
The Christian community in Pakistan’s Punjab province is calling for a thorough investigation into the death of Shahid Masih, a young night watchman killed on October 2 in the Feroza area near Liaqatpur. While authorities have not yet identified suspects or established a motive, the incident has sparked significant concern among local religious leaders regarding the safety of the Christian minority.
Pastor Imran Amanat of the advocacy group LEAD Ministries has urged provincial officials to conduct a transparent inquiry and ensure those responsible are held accountable. Community members are advocating for legal action while emphasizing the need for greater government protection against ongoing violence and discrimination. This event occurs within the context of Pakistan’s ranking as eighth on the 2026 World Watch List, which tracks countries where Christians face severe persecution, including systemic discrimination and the misuse of blasphemy laws.
