Netanyahu and Kushner Align on Gaza Demilitarization and Reconstruction Roadmap

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. special envoy Jared Kushner have reached an agreement stipulating that Hamas must be fully disarmed and the Gaza Strip demilitarized before any reconstruction efforts or Israeli military withdrawals can occur. Following a four-hour meeting in Jerusalem, the two sides announced the formation of working groups to oversee the disarmament process and address urgent public health needs, such as sanitation and water access.

Kushner stated that the United States will not support rebuilding Gaza while Hamas remains armed, noting that the removal of weapons could potentially begin within 30 days. The plan includes the dismantling of Hamas’s tunnel network and the decommissioning of heavy and light weaponry. According to reports, a U.S. general is expected to oversee the process, with surrendered arms being transferred to a new technocratic administration. This agreement follows recent diplomatic discussions held by Kushner in Egypt and is part of a broader 15-point roadmap for the region.
