Natalie Grant cautions against AI influence in Christian music and spirituality

Contemporary Christian artist Natalie Grant recently expressed concerns regarding the integration of artificial intelligence into the music industry, particularly its potential to shape spiritual experiences. Speaking on the Kent Ingle Podcast, Grant acknowledged that while AI can serve as a helpful tool, she warned that relying on technology to generate content that influences a believer's relationship with Jesus poses significant risks. She emphasized that the Church must remain in control of how these tools are utilized rather than allowing AI to dictate the direction of ministry.

Grant, who has advocated for legislative protections regarding digital likeness, played a role in the passage of Tennessee’s ELVIS Act, which restricts the unauthorized use of an individual's voice or image. Her comments come as AI-generated music increasingly appears on mainstream and Christian Billboard charts. Despite these challenges, Grant remains optimistic that the rise of synthetic media will ultimately increase the public's desire for authentic, live human performances, encouraging artists to continue stewarding their creative gifts.
