Museum of the Bible to Host Exhibit on Jordan’s Christian Heritage

The Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., has announced a partnership with Jordan’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to host an international exhibition titled "Jordan: Dawn of Christianity" in 2027. The agreement, signed by museum CEO Dr. Carlos Campo and Jordanian Ambassador Dina Kawar, aims to highlight the historical and biblical significance of various sites within modern-day Jordan.

Previously displayed at the Vatican and in Assisi, Italy, the exhibit features rare archaeological artifacts and educational programming. Featured locations include Bethany Beyond the Jordan, identified as the site of Jesus’ baptism, as well as Machaerus, the Aqaba Church, and the ancient churches of Petra and Madaba. A replica of the historic Madaba Map will also be on display to illustrate early pilgrimage routes. Museum leadership stated that the project is intended to foster cultural cooperation and encourage visitors to explore the historical sites firsthand.
