Michael W. Smith Discusses Worship Integrity and Upcoming Cinematic Project

Veteran Christian musician Michael W. Smith recently shared concerns regarding the potential for modern worship to become overly focused on celebrity culture. Reflecting on his four-decade career, Smith emphasized that worship leaders should aim to remain inconspicuous, ensuring that the focus remains entirely on God rather than the individual on stage. He noted that while social media can sometimes encourage a self-centered approach, his goal remains to foster an atmosphere where congregants can encounter the divine.

Smith is currently promoting a new cinematic event titled "House of Worship," which is scheduled to debut in over 400 theaters on August 23. Serving as an executive producer alongside Darlene Zschech, Smith collaborated with 25 prominent Christian artists, including CeCe Winans, Matt Redman, and Kari Jobe, to revisit influential songs from the history of contemporary worship. The project was filmed in the round at World Wide Stages in Tennessee and aims to highlight the foundational music that has shaped the modern evangelical worship experience.
