Pastor's social media post regarding Michael Tait draws criticism from accuser
A Kansas pastor, Nathan Mudd of Ottawa Community Church, is facing backlash after posting a photo with Newsboys frontman Michael Tait at a recent gathering for pastors in Kansas City. In the now-private social media post, Mudd described Tait’s past actions as a "stumble" and suggested that "in Christ our past is God’s weapon."
Randall Crawford, one of several men who publicly accused Tait of sexual misconduct in 2025, responded to the post by criticizing the characterization of the allegations as a mere stumble. Crawford, who alleges that Tait drugged and sexually assaulted him decades ago, argued that such responses highlight systemic issues within "celebrity Christianity." He emphasized that while he believes in grace, he distinguishes forgiveness from the restoration of a public platform, noting that he has not received an apology or reached a point of accountability with the artist.
Tait, who has faced extensive allegations involving grooming and non-consensual physical contact, has not publicly addressed the recent criticism. Pastor Mudd has not responded to requests for comment regarding his post.
