Christians to hold March for Jesus in Buenos Aires

Christians from across Argentina are scheduled to gather in Buenos Aires on August 17 for a public event titled "March for Jesus." The procession is set to begin at 1 p.m. at the intersection of Avenida de Mayo and Perú Street, moving toward the Plaza de los Dos Congresos for a program of prayer, worship, and public proclamation. The date aligns with the national holiday honoring General José de San Martín.

Organizers describe the event as a demonstration of evangelical unity intended to share messages of peace and hope. The march follows a history of similar gatherings in Argentina, including a 2017 event marking the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, which reportedly drew over 40,000 participants, and a more recent assembly in Rosario in November 2024.

The "March for Jesus" movement originated in London in 1987 through the efforts of groups including Youth With A Mission and Ichthus Christian Fellowship. Since its inception, the initiative has expanded globally, with the stated goal of uniting believers from various denominations to pray publicly for their respective nations.
