Lay Preacher Highlights Neglected Biblical Topics in New Book

Greg Sutton, a church elder, lay preacher and small‑business owner, wrote the book Long Forgotten: Rediscovering Biblical Topics Neglected by the American Church after years of personal Scripture study. He told The Christian Post that his primary motivation was an inner desire to clarify his own beliefs and to help other Christians grow in faith.

In the interview Sutton explained that the book addresses subjects he believes many American churches overlook, including marriage, parenting, sanctification, the nature of suffering, Sabbath observance, divine healing, and the question of whether parents should spank their children. He said these topics emerged from his own study and from feedback he received while serving as an elder and preaching regularly.

Sutton noted that he lacks formal biblical‑college training, but he believes his experience as a lay leader running a family and a business makes his perspective accessible to ordinary believers. He described the work as an outgrowth of his personal study and a way to encourage others to engage with Scripture on issues that are often ignored in contemporary church teaching.
